Dalziel Set for Grand-Am Season Finale

Orlando, Florida – Scotland’s Ryan Dalziel will return to action in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series Presented by Crown Royal Cask No.16 this weekend as the 12-round season concludes at the Homestead Miami Speedway, Florida, with the ‘Grand Prix of Miami’, Thursday 8th – Saturday 10th October.

The 27-year-old, who last raced at the end of August in the ‘Montreal 200’, will spearhead Orbit Racing’s attack behind the wheel of the #45 BMW-Riley Daytona Prototype.

Partnering the Orlando-based Scot for the first time will be 19-year-old Dion Von Moltke, the Texas-born talent stepping up to the Daytona Prototype class having previously competed in the Grand-Am Koni Challenge.

Saturday’s 250-mile race will play out on the 2.3-mile, 11-turn speedway road course at the Homestead Miami Speedway.  While the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series title is up for grabs on Saturday, with the fight played out between the lead pairings in the GAINSCO Racing, SunTrust Racing and Telmex Chip Ganassi Racing outfits, Dalziel’s main focus is a strong finish to a stop-start season for the former race winner.

“I’m excited to be back for the season finale and I have to say I’m really looking forward to racing with Dion for the first time,” said Dalziel.  “It would have been nice to round out the year with my regular partner, Bill Lester, but Dion’s got a good reputation as an up-and-coming talent so I’m pumped to see what we can achieve together.

“It’s been a bit of a roller-coaster season for me but I’m looking to end on a high.  The Orbit Racing BMW-Riley Daytona Prototype package has always been strong, Bill and I enjoying a podium together earlier this season at Daytona.  We’ve got nothing to prove and the title-contenders will obviously be watching out for one another so hopefully we’ve got a good chance to get into the mix at the front and challenge for the win!”

Saturday’s ‘Grand Prix of Miami’ will be broadcast live on SPEED at 1pm EST.
