Forest And Dalziel Finish Fifth In Final 2010 Race!
- 10 September 2010
Starworks Motorsport drivers Mike Forest and Ryan Dalziel finished 5th in the final race of the 2010 Rolex Series season at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah. This new top five for the Fort Lauderdale, Florida team is the seventh top five result of the season in only 11 races for the #8 Corsa Car Care BMW Riley Daytona Prototype co-driven by Mike Forest and Ryan Dalziel.
During Friday’s practice Ryan Dalziel was one of the fastest cars amongst all Daytona Prototypes entered in the final race in Utah. Mike Forest qualified in 12th place on Friday afternoon. After a good start, the Canadian ran a trouble free first stint and handed the car to Ryan Dalziel. Ryan Dalziel took the wheel of the #8 Corsa Car Care machine and fought all race to try to put himself in contention to finish on the podium. Dalziel battled over an hour with the 4th place car of Wilkins but was not able to pass him and had to settle for 5th.
“I really wish we could have finished off the season with a podium,” declared Ryan after the race “We had a great car all weekend but found some inconsistency between our tire sets. What we had in practice was different than in our race so we are all pretty bummed about that. Fifth is not a bad result but we wanted a great result. On to 2011 in four months” added Dalziel.
Mike Forest had a great season with Starworks Motorsport and is already excited about next season.
“Today we were hoping to achieve a better result given how hard we worked to overcome our disappointing Montreal race,” stated Mike Forest after the last race. “It was still a good race and a solid debut season for Starworks Motorsport and our #8 Corsa Car Care program. Everyone on the team did a tremendous job all season. It is a great group to work with!” added Forest.
The Starworks Motorsport team that was launched last winter by team owner Peter Baron finished the 2010 Rolex Series season on a high note. This season the #8 team registered seven top five finishes in only 11 races including two 2nd place finishes, one 3rd place finish, a 4th place finish and three 5th place finishes. Starworks finished in the top five 60% of the time, a remarkable performance for a new team assembled only eight months ago!
Thanks to this great result registered today in Utah by Ryan and Mike, Starworks Motorsport moves from 8th place in the 2010 Rolex Series team point standings to 6th place, only 11 points from 5th place, a good result since Grand American Road Racing Association will take into consideration this final season ranking to start the 2011 Rolex Series season at Daytona for the 2011 Rolex 24 At Daytona to be raced on January 29-30, 2011 at Daytona International Speedway.
