EFFORT Racing Earns Eighth Season Podium at Barber Motorsports Park

Barber PodiumBIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After a difficult race weekend on the streets of Long Beach, EFFORT Racing moved on to earn their eighth podium of the season at Barber Motorsports Park for Rounds 6 and 7 of the Pirelli World Challenge.

Driver of the #31 EFFORT Racing Porsche 911 GT R Ryan Dalziel started Race 1 in 9th, but a strong start brought him quickly to 6th position. Michael Lewis started the #41 EFFORT Racing Porsche 911 GT3 in 3rd. Lap 10 brought a four lap full course caution, with the No. 61 of Baretta sandwiched between Lewis in 4th and Dalziel in 6th. As the field went back to green, Dalziel battled with Baretta for 5th, successfully making the pass before the field again went to yellow. By the final yellow. Dalziel had worked his way up to 4th, with Lewis in 6th. With just a few laps to go, Lewis reported a problem to the team his left rear tire, eventually forcing him to end his race early by pulling off track in order to not cause a dangerous situation for the rest of the field.

The fastest laps in Race 1 earned Dalziel a 5th place starting position for Race 2, and Lewis started the final round of the weekend in 10th. The race went immediately from green to yellow, but not before Dalziel took advantage of another strong start with the Porsche to restart in third. By lap 12, Dalziel settled comfortably in 3rd place, then utilizing traffic to catch back up to the leaders. A lengthy caution due to a competitor's car catching fire came out just halfway point, allowing the drivers to catch a break before battling it out from 3rd and 8th. The field went back to green with just two laps of green racing left. Dalziel stayed close on the tail of the leaders to finish 3rd, earning his 4th podium of the year. Teammate Michael Lewis finished 6th.

Rounds 8 and 9 of the Pirelli World Challenge will begin in two weeks at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, May 15-17.

Ryan Dalziel // #31 EFFORT Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R
It was a difficult week since Long Beach. As a team we really wanted to come back with a podium. I really appreciate the team putting up with my dramas this week. I've been a bit grumpy to be around. It's nice to have so much support from everyone. Today was another good points race. We took some good points from Baretta in both races, and it was good to race with him cleanly and squash everything on our end from Long Beach. Glad to see Johnny O'Connell is okay after that scary looking fire. We'll see what happens next in Canada.

Michael Lewis // #41 EFFORT Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R
The team worked really awesome through a lot of things happening for my teammate and I this weekend, so I'm just really happy. It's good to have both cars come back clean. Race 2 was pretty exciting. We got off the line well, and it was a straightforward race with only a couple yellow flags. The Porsche was really hooked up. My engineer made a solid change to help with some rotation from the first race to this race. The car was definitely better and it showed. We just had to work our way methodically up to the front. On the last restart, I was able to get two positions into the first or second order. We finished 6th overall. We're looking forward to the next race in Canada and keep pushing for more points.
