Era Motorsport Confirms 2023 IMSA Season, Driver Lineup

2023 preview

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (December 17, 2022) - Era Motorsport will return to the Le Mans Protototype 2 Class for their fourth season in the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship wielding an Oreca 07. With record entries, the team is looking forward to a season of fierce competition and exhilarating racing. Dwight Merriman and Ryan Dalziel will be back in the cockpit as full-season drivers with Christian Rasmussen returning as the endurance driver for the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup. Newcomer to the team, but exceptionally experienced driver Oliver Jarvis will round out the roster for the Rolex 24 At Daytona.

The 2022 season saw the team take the overall win at Road America in addition to podiums at the Mobil 12 Hours of Sebring and at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, leading to placing third overall in the class championship. Want to relive the season? Take a look at the team's mini documentary series on Youtube!

With seven races on the calendar for 2023, the team is aiming to add more hardware to the collection. “I’m very excited to see what the team can do for the 2023 season, especially with coming so close to winning the championship in 2022. There is definitely some unfinished business. With the resurgence of professional sports car racing courtesy of GTP and LMDH, we are thankful to be invited by IMSA to be on the grid. With the addition of Oliver, I think we can fight for the win at Daytona,” says team owner Kyle Tilley.

While the team hit the ground running with pre-season testing before the new year even began, the official season starts with the Roar Before the 24 January 20-22 as teams hit the blacktop of Daytona International Speedway to prepare for the grueling Rolex 24 At Daytona. Twenty-four hours of all-out sprint racing will commence at 1:40 p.m. on Saturday, January 28 for the 61st running of the iconic event. The remainder of the calendar will take the LMP2 class to Sebring International Raceway, WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen International, Road America, the new addition of Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Dwight Merriman: It’s going to be a good year. I’m looking forward to driving with Ryan for the full season and know that Christian and Oliver are going to be real assets for the longer races. The team is great and I’m confident this year is going to have good results.

ryan dalzielRyan Dalziel:
I cannot wait to start my 3rd season with Era, who I now consider my extended family. Really excited about our line up and the strong P2 field in IMSA. Ready to get 2023 started.

christian rasmussenChristian Rasmussen:
I’m very excited to get a chance in the endurance world with Era Motorsport racing in IMSA. It will be a new experience and I can’t wait to get started in Daytona in late January. I can’t thank Sarah and Kyle Tilley enough for the opportunity.

oliver jarvisOliver Jarvis:
I am excited to be joining Era Motorsport and teaming up with Dwight, Ryan and Christian for the 24 hours of Daytona. I think we have a great mix of both experience and youth which will hopefully be the winning combination to repeat Era’s win in 2021 and my subsequent win in 2022. LMP2 continues to be extremely competitive, so we know that the win will require a faultless race, strong teamwork and a bit of luck! I can’t wait to get to Florida in January and start working with the team towards that win.
